 Morning, all. Interesting how misunderstanding of meanings can affect the interpretation of the message, isn't it? "Draw a bath' is an expression that clearly has a different meaning for the youngster than for the grandmother. As more and more of our communication is written, much of it texting or emailing, the need for good writing and even better reading skills increases.
Along with the need to read and write better, our willingness and ability to question for clarity also increases. Time to dust off the skills of paraphrasing, the use of 'If I understand you correctly', and 'in other words'. Try walking a bit in the shoes of the person with whom you are communicating to be sure you are both going down the same path!
I will be at the hospital again today. Thank you for carrying the baton!

Morning, all. Today is Dominick's birthday and to say he is bummed about being in the hospital on his birthday would be an understatement! Why are birthdays so important? I know people who never celebrate their birthdays--or those of others--simply allowing the day to pass in silence. And then there are those of us whose challenge it is to extend the day as long as possible. Cards, letters, balloons, cakes, calls--the real presents of a life well spent. After all, it isn't about 'stuff' so much as how our walk through life has positively affected others. So, I know you all join me in celebrating Dominick's 76th year! He has and continues to make a difference!

Rambling wastes time, distorts the focus, and steals energy from the task at hand. Get a grip on it!

When you help others stay on track, won't it make you more aware of your own tendency to wander?
Be ATTENTIVE!
What will you do the next time Ramblin' Rick or Wandering Wanda gets rolling along?
The exchange of ideas from one person to another has never been an exact science. You may never understand another person completely. Neither can you automatically expect others to understand you, and the reasoning behind what you are trying to communicate. Don't presume you know what another person is thinking. Stop and get it right the first time. Assume you don't know. Ask. Listen. Clarify, Reach Mutual agreement.
